GOAL 0, THE RESET

Hello, WORLD! This whole blog has been hard to write in the first place but this post is by far the hardest. The whole goal of this SW101 blog is to document the most important goals I want to accomplish & how I go about completing them. Hopefully, my determination to complete them will motivate others to follow make goals & do the same. This post is about me eating crow, one of the only things I don't like eating. I have to reset this blog as well as my goals. Why? I got a few reasons:

1) The feedback: For the most part, people have been motivating me to complete these goals as much as my own determination is pushing me to complete them. The feedback hasn't had all positive vibes though. A few were tips that I will try to incorporate including the main issue that I have heard: building a little suspense. Duly noted.

2) Completed a goal? Prove it!: Some of the feedback I received had to do with how I can prove if I did this or not. Some of these goals, like getting to the top of the Sears Tower, are easily proven with pics. Some, like getting my tattoo covered up or biking the drive, can even by videoed. But some of the main ones I want to accomplish, like getting out of debt & watching my three youngest kids graduate, would be hard to photo, record on video, or even complete in a quick enough time to make this blog actually work.

3) Me, myself: As I said in my last blog post before this one, I got waaay more than just 101 goals. Thinking about some of the others, as well as the feedback from the first 101 run, some would make a way more interesting posts plus would probably be more fun to complete.

4) My REAL #1 Goal: I can't believe that I made this list with listing my #1 goal since I can remember. I still can't post it here because there is no way I can prove I've done it & even if I do succeed, I probably won't be alive to accomplish it. And that goal is.................. to be announced in the next post. Suspenseful enough? Told ya I'm learning, WORLD!! DUECES!!!!  

Goal 102: ???????????????

Hello, WORLD! Smokkee Singleton here. I know probably you're going "Hey!! This blog is dedicated to you completing 101 Goals but this post's title is Goal 102. What gives?" Well, all of that is true. This is SMOKKEE'S WORLD 101 after all. With that said, based on the feedback I've gotten so far, there's a few things I need y'all to understand. This a blog about 101 goals that I've made for myself but don't think I've only got 101 goals. I got a million plus goals to be honest with you and I'll probably have more than that by the end of the year. There are a few very specific goals that I've gotten that I haven't listed on here because there is no way I can prove that I've accomplished them so they couldn't make the list. Just bec ause I haven't listed them doesn't mean they're any less of importance than the ones that are listed. I want to do a documentary on Chicago's rap music history. That's one of the more important ones that may get accomplished before a lot of the ones listed are. Well that's really all I wanted to add, WORLD. The next posts you'll see from this blog will be when I fill like I've completed a goal. You'll definitely be the first to know.

GOAL 101: TURN THIS BLOG INTO A BOOK

If I actually do complete 50 goals, ranging from simple to "well, I KNOW that took some working getting accomplished!", what kinda of inspirational value do you think this achievement would be? Yeah, my sentiments exactly. If I complete 50 goals, this blog will be in book form at a bookstore or on a Kindle near you. I promise, WORLD!

I've adopted a Black Heart as my symbol. Don't ask why: Black love, man. Anyway, I want a ring to reflect this. I'mma design a ring with a white gold band with a heart made of onyx in the center of it's platinum face. This will be the ring I want my heirs to pass along to their heirs & so forth.

The game of Life is simple: Who ever dies with the most money wins! It's an old joke but it's an honest old joke. Goals 75 & 76 is to have a net worth of $100,000.00 & $1,000,000.00 respectively. Simple as that but I don't think this goal is simple at all. May be the hardest goals on this list..

WORLD, I need a car! Leaving in Chicago doesn't demand that though but it makes life a hell of a lot easier. At this point, I don't care what car I get before the end of this year; I know I'm getting one! Eventually though, I want the car I want. I want a convertible! A Chevy 64 is my goal but any convertible would do me!

I'm almost done! Whew!! What's MAMA's? Well right now, my family does this thing where we make dinners on Friday's & deliver them in the Downtown Chi area during the lunch our. We've been doing this for years. I want to take this to the next step. Instead of us delivering, why not open up a restaurant instead and name it after my favorite people in the WORLD? Simple as that!

In the last post, I told yall I don't like being a quitter. I also said I used to rap. What happened with that? I felt I got too old to do it. I still can amaze with my freestyles & most of the stuff I got written could pass as if I wrote it today, even though some songs are 20+ years old! Yeah, I been rapping for a long ass time! So, just to say that all of that time I spent doing it wasn't wasted, I MUST drop an album, even if it's just for my piece of mind. That's Goal 69. Now, I would still feel like I completed this goal if I record a comedy album. 9 outta 9, I would throw a rap track on there as a bonus cut or something. So that's Goal 70.

Confession Time: A long time ago, when I first started rapping, I had another dream: I wanted to do standup comedy as well. I even did open mic at this club that's been closed for a while now here in Chicago called All Jokes Aside. I was ok, I got laughs and all, but it really wasn't something I wanted to continue doing. I hate being a quitter even if I only quit on myself (more on this REAL soon, I promise!) so I wanna give it a go again. Simple as that.

The only place that I've been DYING to go to in the US that I haven't been to yet is New York. I might not know what I wanna do in other parts of the country but I certainly know what I wanna do when I get there.

I'm an author. All authors have their influences. Mine? Agatha Christie for one, Elmore Lenard is another. But growing up, my favorite author was Stephen King. 2 things I learned from reading his books: books are almost always better than the movie version. Poor Mr King has been brutalized when his books hit the screen. THE SHINING, THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, CARRIE, & (suprisingly) THE MIST are some exceptions. My favorite Stephen story is the 2nd story from THE BACHMAN BOOKS, THE LONG WALK. I still love this story. I wanna see this story hit the big screen but I want to see it done RIGHT, nah mean? You know what they say though: "If you want something done right..." Simple as that.

Are you on Klout, that website that ranks you according to your presence or popularity on social sites like Twitter & Facebook? I am. Right now, I'm a specialist with a rank of 50 that doesn't change much. I wanna get to 100, which gets you the label of celebrity. Yeah. I'm on that.

Goals 57 & 58: Bike / Skate The Drive

WORLD, I'd like to think I'm in shape. We all do, right? How can I prove that to myself? Well, I thought of 2 ways. I wanna try roller skating from the start of Chicago's Lake Shore Drive expressway on 67th st (6700 S) all the way to the end near Hollywood (I believe that's 5700 N). I might kill myself trying though, LBVS. I also wanna bike it but since I was a bike messenger at one point in time, I don't think that'll be to much of a problem.  

Goal 56: Invest In Stocks

You already know I want my own company. Did you know the easiest way to own a company is to buy stock? I've been knowing that for the longest just never took advantage of it plus investing is the easiest way to gain & an even easier way to lose it. Got know what you're doing. I've study for years & I sorta got it. Now, considering everything I'm trying to do, I'm going to take the next step & take a plunge into the market. Simple as that. 

Goal 55: Get In A Credit Union

5 Savings accounts, 5 Checking Accounts. Where else can I store money at? A credit union!! And, from what I hear, they gain way more interest than normal banks do. For what I wanna do, this is definitely the route for me.

Goal 9 was 5 savings accounts. Why stop there? 5 savings accounts, 5 checking accounts. Simple as that.

WORLD, I wanna travel! If you don't believe me, see Goal 8. But of course the WORLD is bigger than the US, at least that's what I hear. I wanna see it for myself. In order to do that, I need a passport. Simple as that.

Confession time again, WORLD: I've never had a driver's license. You're probally looking like "WTF?!?!?! O_o?!?!?!" right now, IKR, but it's true. I've had a permit in 3 states: Cali, Kentucky, & my home state of Illinois and all of those were before I was 21. Hell, I haven't had a car since I was 19 so it kinda makes sense. Then again, no it doesn't! Allow me fix this ASAP.

Goal 48: Catch @ Least 1 Game @ Every NFL/NBA Stadium

Confession time again, WORLD. Before anybody heard of the R & B group Dru Hill, I use to rap under the name the Ci$co Kid until I started using my real name. I switched this ASAP after that blond haired dude got popular. The only remnant remaining of that is the one tattoo I have. It's a real Job Corps special. I got it back in '92 when I went to the Earle C Clemons Job Corps Center down in Morganfield, KY. I've been meaning to get around to having it removed but never did it. Now, I don't want it moved as much as I want it covered up. I'm so tired of having to explain this tattoo, so much that this will definitely be one of the earliest Goals I complete.

Yep, WORLD, I know you gotta crawl before you walk. So if Goal 45 learning how to swim, Goal 46 is the next logical evolution. It's something that I've always been interested in, even though I'm not a swimmer. But I will be soon enough. Then I'm gonna go snorkeling somewhere. I got a few spots in mind where, but those are for a later post.

If you tossed me in the water, I won't drown but it would take me a while to get from point A to point A, not to mention point A to point B. I wanna get better at it. I'm a sports fan. That's no secret. The group of people I'm damn near always around are just as big on sports as I am. That's almost all we talk about & if you heard us, you'd swear we deserve a paycheck with our spot on commentary. It's hard as hell to get a job for ESPN (Lord knows I tried...) but why should I work for them when it's just as easy to start my own broadcast? A podcast is a simple yet inexpensive way to get our points across & our commentary heard. So why not start one? Simple as that.

This next goal is just for kicks. Anybody who knows me knows I love video games. I've been a gamer all my life. What a kick it would be to have other gamers just as addicted to a game that I created as I am to the games I play. Yeah, I'd love to see that one day. Who knows? Maybe I can kill 2 birds with one stone if I came up with a video game app for cell phones. I wouldn't mind doing an game for home systems either but hey, either or is cool with me.

These days, you gotta know computers. The funny part is there is no guarantee that computers will be around forever. With laptops, cellphones, & tablets coming into their own over the past 5 years, you never can tell. The biggest field these days doesn't seem to be the hardware itself but the applications developed for them. We all have a few ideas for some apps we'd love, right? As of now, I would like an app that can pst to ALL social networks (Twitter, Facebook, Google+, etc) without compromising each network's individuality. I want one but I don't see one. This is the main reason I want to learn computer programming: to fill voids I feel need filling. If I can't find the app I want, why not build it myself? Simple as that.

These days, the safest fields to find work in are the ones that will always be need: health/medicine, law, etc. Now you can add one more field to the list: Computers. I've been saying for years the Internet is no longer a want but a necessity. Even with bare minimal skills, you can still go far. I got those already, naturally. The one thing I don't truly understand yet is computer programming. It all goes back to my last 4 goals, communication is the key. Computers have their own language & I wanna learn it.

The WORLD's biggest sporting event is perhaps the Super Bowl. I haven't missed one in years but I've never seen one live neither. Not this year for sure but one day, when I'm financially set, I will. I promise.

Let's be honest WORLD: As much as you love your job, if you do in fact love your job, you'd jump at the chance to not have to punch in everyday. Who wouldn't? I love my job. I got a great boss, great coworkers, and decent pay. But I work my ass off. I had a stroke about 3 years ago working my ass off. Why should I continue to jeopardize my health & not reap the benefits of my hard work? If I ever become a truly successful writer / journalist or I get my 9th goal accomplished, I quit!   

GOAL 34: HELP 10 PEOPLE GET OUT OF DEBT

WORLD, what sense does it make when you can help people but you don't? What if you learn how to do something but you don't teach it to anybody? My fourth goal as of right now is me working on getting out of debt. If I learn how to do that, I'll definitely share all that I learned in regards to this with anybody that needs help with it. If I help 10 people then I'd feel like I've accomplished something but I don't think I'd stop right there. Why should I? I'd help more but I only need to help 10 with their finances to complete this goal.   

GOAL 33: SETUP LIFE INSURANCE

WORLD, I always say you're never promised tomorrow. If you died today, would your kids be set financially or would they struggle just burying you? When my mom's died back in '03, she had 2 life insurance policies & even though only one of them came through, we were able to send her off in style. I don't want none of my kids to have to worry about this or deal with a headache when it comes to this matter, so I definitely wanna setup some kinda insurance so that they won't have to. Simple as that.

Of course, Wisconsin Dells is a great spot to take the kids. I cand only think of 1 spot better than that for some family fun. Disneyworld, the WORLD's most visited family entertainment resort! I never went as a kid. Confession: I didn't wanna go either. My kids deserve to go though, whether they want to or not, LOL. I know they'll have a blast though. They better, considering how expensive the Magic Kingdom is. It's expensive but they're more than worth it.

I want to take my youngest 3 kids wherever I travel but mor specifically, I'd love to take them to Wisconsin Dells. Besides the fact that they'll have a blast, I haven't been in about 15 years myself. Enough water park fun & rides for them & my BM Leiatonia to enjoy themselves all day while I try to slip away to the Ho Chunk Casino (you already know what I'm on, LOL! #DontJudgeMe!).

I love music!! I grew up trying to be a rapper (more on this in an upcoming post, I promise!) before I switched my creative focus to journalism & writing. Hello, WORLD!!! As you can see, in order to speed up the process of completing my goals, which I won't start trying to do until my entire 101 goals (except for Goal 6. I'm trying to quit smoking cigarettes ASAP) are posted here on this blog, I've started combining them whenever I can. This first combined post is actually 4 separate goals but they're basically the same. I'm NEVER moving out of the Chi for good. EVER! A home away from home would be nice. 4 homes away from home would be better. I would love to have a house (or an apartment; I'm not picky) in LA, NY, Miami (thanks for the advice, Jada), & Las Vegas, especially Vegas!! What can I say? I love to gamble. Basically, the title of this post said it all. What more do I need to say?

I think this goal is self explanatory but it might be one of the hardest goals on this list to complete. The reason being is I've tried several times to write a novel & I always wound up turning them into short stories or into novellas. Also, I start getting mad at my own characters to the point that I want horrible things to happen to them like somebody else created them. Of course, since I'm the author, terrible things usually do happen to them, LBVS. Now, I don't want to write an epic but I do want to put out a real page turner that takes at least 2 weeks to read the first time. I know I can do it. I just gotta get started & not hate my creations in the process.

GOAL 12: PUBLISH A BOOK OF SHORT STORIES

Other goals are just somethings that I want to do. Then I got goals like 12 & the best way to describe what I'm trying to do with these type of goals can be summed up in one word: immortality. I don't mean it in the physical sense though. I want the things that I've done on this planet to survive moreso than me sticking around this planet. One way to achieve that is to write. Shakespear is immortal, as well as Socrates, Mark Twain, Homer. How can I add myself to that list? By writing. I am already a writer: I've got a few short stories written already plus I blog (d'uh). Now my thing is to put enough great (IMO) stories together & get them published. Simple. As. That.

I got a few ideas of what I want my house to look like as well as other features it must have but those first two are the main things I want for sure. And this is one goal on my list that I know is gonna happen, even if I can't complete the rest of them!
